Definition for : Floor plan loan
A Floor plan loan is a loan for financing products with a high unit Value sold by specialised retailers, such as cars, furniture, electrical goods, boats, etc. and bought by consumers who often finance these Purchases using Consumer loans. Banks or specialised lending institutions grant these loans to retailers for a percentage of the Value of the retail goods and the loan is repaid as the goods are sold to the end user. Because the banks do not always earn enough Interest on Floor plan loans, they request priority access to the retailers' customers in order to offer them Consumer loans, which provides the banks with an additional source of revenue.
